Advance Your Practice

This page contains responsive training, resources, and tools that address needs identified by educators in Maine through the Census and continuing conversations. To investigate these needs further, Teach ME Outside convened a Professional Learning Advisory Group of leaders in the environmental education field representing both in-school and out-of-school environments to discuss professional learning access for educators in Maine to support environmental learning for all Maine students.

Just starting out in environmental and outdoor learning? Check out this Professional Learning Opportunity List of existing high-quality professional learning opportunities in Maine identified by the advisory group.

This site will continue to grow and evolve as more needs are identified in Maine and tools are developed. Have a suggestion? Please let us know what materials you would find helpful to increase access to environmental and outdoor learning in your school or community

Professional learning is an essential part of our work as educators. At Kingfield Elementary we've worked towards place-based education by participating in professional learning with Maine Math and Science Alliance, Juniper Hill and others to help us enrich our practice. These opportunities have provided us with great content knowledge and pedagogical ideas and make us feel more connected inside our school community and to our colleagues around the state. These chances to share, laugh and grow have led to growth in our capacity for making positive change.
